![]() ![]() Ryan Middleton: Though I may not have the same fondness for boy bands as you Carolyn, I do have a weak spot for a catchy hook and well-produced beat. There's no doubt that there is a talent within this group, and I think fans are going to look at this album in a very favorable way. While not being a record I'd choose to listen to outside of here, I will say that Reflection has some pretty standout tracks. After a listen, I would say Carolyn's thought is pretty accurate. Kyle Dowling: Unsurprisingly, I've never listened to Fifth Harmony before this Junk Mail. But there also seems like a lot of filler here. The highs (read: the singles) are bona fide #bangerz. Like most pop albums like this, my thought is kind of. Their fans, known as Harmonizers (and they're intense) are stoked about the release of this album, but does it live up to the hype? ![]() Feel free to join the conversation in the comments section, and check back next week for more.Ĭarolyn Menyes: Much like my fondness for boy bands, I have a soft spot for girl groups, which is why I'm sort of stoked that Fifth Harmony's debut album Reflection has finally dropped after way too many years and a fair share of album delays. This week, Carolyn Menyes, Kyle Dowling and Ryan Middleton chat about Fifth Harmony's new album Reflection. The song distribution on this track is perfect, and it’s a good overall representation of the group.", according to Marcel Jeremiah of PPcorn.Welcome to Junk Mail, where a few Music Times staffers email back-and-forth about each week's biggest release throughout the work day. Well, until Normani deflates the poor guy’s ego in the chorus. From Dinah starting it off, seemingly gassing up some guy with some vine references, “Cause ooh you be killing’ ’em just like little Terio,” to Camila complimenting his selfie game, “Don’t need no filters on pictures before you post ’em on the gram / shut down the internet / they don’t even understand,” you think you know where this song is going. The polished, finished product sounds great, and I love hearing the confidence that is dripping off of this track. "I’ve been waiting for a studio version of 'Reflection' since watching concert footage of the track. It doesn’t need any bells and whistles because it satisfies with the simple, slick rhythm and sultry vocals.", according to Rebecca Mattina of andPOP. ![]() A strong blend of sassy and snappy lyrics, it feels original and it doesn’t feel overdone or lackluster. "Here’s hoping 'Reflection' makes it to the radio in the future. 'Reflection' strives to capture that Beyonce-approved brand of brassiness and mostly hits its mark, especially on the trap-happy chorus.", according to Jason Liphutz of Billboard. "'Reflection' is based around a genius bait-and-switch, as Fifth Harmony coos sensual compliments ("Where you from? Must be heaven," "Think I'm in love, 'cause you so sexy"), but flips the script to reveal that the words are intended for themselves, not their male admirers. "It is about a girl explaining to a guy about how fine he is, but later on she says sike I'm talking about my reflection." as Dinah Jane Hansen described it. " Reflection" is a song by Fifth Harmony included on their eponymous first studio album, Reflection, which debuted on February 3, 2015. ![]()
